3 easy steps to apply sunscreen around the eyes

My go to sunscreen from Trader Joes

We have all heard it countless times, “don’t forget your sunscreen!”  As many of us have gotten in the good habit of applying sunscreen to our face before we head out for the day, we tend to forget about the part of the body that accounts for almost 10% of skin cancer, the area around the eyes.  This skin is 10x thinner than any other part of our body, therefore making it more susceptible to sun damage. Sun damage includes sunspots, premature wrinkles, and cancers, all yucky things.

Below you will find 3 easy steps to protect that delicate skin around your eyes:

  1.  Choose a sheer sunscreen with at least SPF 30 that contains ingredients like zinc and titanium dioxide.
  2. Make a thin film out of the sunscreen.
  3. Using your ring finger ( the weakest finger), gently pat the sunscreen around the brow bone, outer corner of the eyes, under eye, and nose bridge.  Make sure not to get too close to the lid margin.
