Three steps for perfect make- up for glasses

1. Prep

Prepping your skin is so important when getting ready to wear makeup. Think of it as starting a good canvas for your makeup. When wearing glasses there are a few things to do before applying make- up to help enhance the wear and longevity of products applied.

Exfoliate:

The first thing you want to do when prepping is to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliating the skin helps remove any dead skin cells. Also, when you wear glasses, the dirt and oils that build up from the frame touching your skin can clog your pores, so you want to start your makeup routine with the cleanest skin possible

One of my favorite exfoliators, Tatcha.

Moisturize:

The next thing you are going to want to do is to use a moisturizer to hydrate your skin. By doing so the skin around your eyes the will look fresh and less dull under your frames.  Depending on your type of glasses lens, it can minify or magnify your pores, so you want to keep the skin feeling and looking healthy as possible.

Prime:

Lastly, priming your face will smooth out your skin complexion for a nice and even look. Don’t forget to prime your eyelids! Doing this will prevent any creasing from happening. Priming also prevents the glasses from falling off your face because it minimizes oil and makeup runoff.

2.  Shadow

The best part in my opinion! Opt for light colors because dark eyeshadows can make your eyes look too dark under the glasses.  In order to enhance the beauty of your eyes, use lighter shades.

Base:

You first want to start off with a base color on your lid. This color should be light and matte. Using a light color all over the lids can create a pop of sheen that will shine through the glasses.

Contour:

Then, you’re going to want to pick a slightly darker color for the crease. Applying on the crease using windshield wiper motions very lightly going from outer corner to inner back and forth. This will create much needed depth to enhance your eyes.

Highlight:

To finish off, you want to add a little “zing” to the corner of your eyes by applying either a cream highlighter or very light shadow.  This makes the eyes look brighter and further enhances the beauty of your flirty peeps. An extra tip is to define your brow bone with a light color to give your eyes a little extra definition as well.

3.  Finishing Touches

Now that the eyes are properly prepped and contoured, a few finishing touches are going to bring this whole look together.

Eyeliner:

Applying an eyeliner will tie your eye shadow look all together making your eyes look bigger and pop. Try not to choose a color that blends in with your frame color because the goal is to have your eyes stand out, not hide behind the frame. Also, using a q-tip or brush to smudge the liner will soften the look altogether.

Mascara:

Next, choose your favorite volumizing mascara. A lengthening mascara will result in your lashes hitting your lenses which can be very annoying and leave marks on your glasses. However, the volumizing mascara will give your lashes a fuller/thicker look that is very flattering on your eyes. Another great tip is to emphasize your outer lashes with the mascara wand. This will give you the perfect finishing touch to your eye makeup.

False Lashes:

Another great product to use is false lashes. This is totally optional! Again, I would recommend going with lashes that have some volume rather than length. Applying a few individual lashes in the outer corners of your eyes will open the eyes more and avoid hitting the center of your glasses lens.
